One Month Left of School

So after this week, I will have one more full week of school left, then Thanksgiving break, then we come back for dead week, and then its FINALS week :) I have really enjoyed OSU. In the mean time while juggling school on the weekend of November 21 and 22 I am riding in a clinic with PHILLIP DUTTON!!!! I am totally pumped to see Phillip again. Hopefully he will think that O'malley and I have improved tremendously from a year ago when I saw him in June. Sadly Shorty will not be joining us this time.... I really miss my little Shortykins :) This weekend, O'malley will be getting his second hair cut of the winter, and then he will be getting his shoes done. Then I will be coming home the next Thursday to clip Dash for Kelly. Then its back to Stillwater and then load up and take the Moose to Edmond for the clinic :) so until next time.........

Mid terms are done and the Lazy E is around the bend

So school has been fun, Midterms are done and I am doing really well in all of my classes. I have changed majors and I am now an Ag Communications major. Kejser has been fabulous, and he is finally changing clean in his flying changes. Even bigger news, O'malley now lives in Stillwater with me, we make the trek back and forth from home to Stillwater together every weekend. He lives at a local barn where he has a 12X24 stall and a large grass paddock that he goes out in everyday.

The Lazy E seminar is this weekend, so if you get bored come up to Guthrie and watch him go. He is an amazing horse, trust me if I had a mare I would be breeding to this wonderful stallion. So here is another picture of him. Until next time, Kick ON!

OSU BOUND

SO I AM FINALLY IN REAL COLLEGE!!!

I AM AN OKLAHOMA STATE COWBOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

STILLWATER HAS BEEN AN AMAZING PLACE FOR THE LAST TWO WEEKS. HOWEVER, I DIDN'T BRING ANY OF MY BOYS UP HERE WITH ME. MEG IS GOING TO BE COMPETING CASTLEBAR FRIDAY AKA O'MALLEY FOR ME THIS SPRING AND HOPEFULLY HE WILL BE MOVING UP TO INTERMEDIATE WITH HER, AND THEN I WILL COMPETE ON HIM AT MAUI JIM IN JULY.

SO I GO TO CLASS 5 DAYS A WEEK, GO TO THE GYM 3 DAYS A WEEK. BUT I STILL HAVE TOO MUCH TIME ON MY HANDS. SO I FOUND A BARN THAT IS IN YALE, OKLAHOMA WHICH FROM CAMPUS TO THE DRIVE WAY OF FREDERIKSBORG HORSES USA IS ABOUT A 20 MINTUE DRIVE IF THERE IS TRAFFIC. A GOOD 15 MINUTES IF I CAN ESCAPE THE TRAFFIC IN STILLWATER, AND IF PEOPLE WILL ACTUALLY DRIVE THE SPEED LIMIT ON HWY 51....

SO I EMAILED THE PEOPLE WHO OWN THE FARM, WHICH IS A BREEDING FARM, AND ALSO A QUARANTINE FACILITY. AND THE GUY WHO OWNS THE FARM, ASKED IF I WOULD LIKE TO COME OUT TO THE FARM AND TAKE A LOOK. NOW WHEN I WAS INQUIRING ABOUT WORK, I THOUGHT I WOULD BE RIDING A YOUNG HORSE. BUT WHEN I GOT TO THE FARM, WE WALKED THROUGH THE BARNS AND OUT TO A LARGE ROUND PEN AND HANS INTRODUCED ME TO KEJSER, THE HORSE THAT I WOULD BE RIDING.

KEJSER IS A 16 HAND FREDERIKSBORG STALLION! KEJSER WAS IMPORTED FROM DENMARK IN 2003 AND PASSED HIS STALLION TESTING OVER THERE WITH FLYING COLORS!!! KEJSER IS TRAINED THROUGH 4TH LEVEL DRESSAGE. HANS HAD BEEN ASKED TO DO A SPEECH AT THE LAZY E AREANA IN GUTHRIE, OK THIS NOVEMBER BUT DIDN'T HAVE ANYONE TO RIDE KEJSER DURING THE SPEECH. SO THAT IS WHAT I AM GOING TO BE DOING. RIDING THIS AMAZING STALLION, AS OFTEN AND AS MUCH AS I WOULD LIKE TO.

Spring Wrap Up

Wow so a lot has happened so far this spring. We did quite a few small jumper show in Feb. and March. Then O'malley went to a big jumper show in Tulsa and he was quite the little rockstar! He did the 3'9" and 3'6" add back jumper classes and then did the Mod. Low Jr. Jumpers which was 4'! I was so proud of my pony, he was reserve champion for the week. 

After the Tulsa show it was on to Greenwood! Which was our first event of the year. O'malley competed in the CIC* and the amazing Vince would make his come back to the eventing world with a start in the Open Training. 

O'malley was less than his best in Dressage and earned a horrid score of a 76.... Oh well, it just wasn't our day. Vince warmed up great, and then he went into the arena to start around the arena and he lost it! He was quite the rodeo show. He eventually settled in and somehow managed to get a 43 in dressage! I was super happy with my little fireball!

With O'malley my goal on XC was to go out and have a good learning trip, we were already out of contention for the top spot because of our dressage. So we set out XC and he put in a fabulous run, and came in the fittest of any horse in the CIC*. I was so happy with my baby! Vince was next, he was a little sticky to the first couple of fences but would eventually settle down and really put up a good run. I was very proud that my Vinny Poo came home sound and happy from his first XC run in almost 2 years! 

Show Jumping was the next morning. O'malley put in a great run, I had 1 rail but it was mine. I turned too quickly in the air over a vertical and he pulled the rail. Vince was great, as usual in the SJ and turned in a clean round. Both boys finished as the top placed Irish Sport Horses in their divisions and both received a leather halter and lead shank for their efforts. 

We came home, and Vince began preparing for his first Prelim run, which was this past weekend at the Mill Creek Pony Club H.T. I wanted to go to Mill Creek and get a better dressage test, preferable with all 4 feet staying on the ground. Vince put in a great Dressage test at Mill Creek. Meighan said it was the best one she had ever seen us put in! I was thrilled! Vince earned a 41.3 which was good enough for 5th place. The XC was a bit wet as we got a ton of rain friday night. So we were concerned to run him XC because we didn't want to re-injure his leg that we had spent so much time getting to heal. Meg was early on in the division so she watched the footing for me and came back and said it was fine and to run him. He was excellent! I was so happy with Vince. He ran around clean, with only time faults, which everyone racked up because of the footing. But most of all he came home sound yet again! Show Jumping was sunday morning. He was great! Minus that the bit I have used on him since I bought him 5 years ago was too much, and I couldn't half halt or he would sling his head violently. We had 1 rail, because I can't count and still don't know how many strides we put in that line. Oh well, he finished 8th in the division and came home with a ribbon! I was so proud of my baby. 

Well that is all for now. Who knows what we are doing next, I am hoping for Maui Jim this summer, only time will tell. 

Tulsa Mid Winter Classic

I rode at the Tulsa Mid Winter Classic at the Tulsa Fair Grounds with Vince and O'Malley. The boys were both FABOULOUS!!!! I was so happy with the two of them. Here are the results from the show...

Friday:

Saturday:

End of Fall.... Things are looking Bright!

So life is definately better since the last time I blogged.

Shorty is healthy again!! Slowly starting back into work, like painfully slow is more like it. But I guess whatever it takes to get my favorite OTTB back in action.

O'malley competed at Greenwood in the Prelim-Championship division, however I pulled him after XC so he didn't SJ. He wacked himself pretty good on XC and was quite sore Sunday morning. Oh well, better safe than sorry. We then went on to compete at Holly Hill in the Jr. Yr. Open Prelim, where we had a strong 6th place finish!!! We had our best dressage score yet! 38.8!!! we even pulled a "9" on our free walk!! He was so good at Holly Hill.

However I think the most remarkable thing that has happened this fall is Vince..... Vince is sound again. Not only is he sound again, he is jumping!! He will be going to a clinic with Will Faudree the first weekend in December, and then going to a Jumper show the following weekend. So its looking like my baby is gonna start competing again!!!

Well that pretty much it. Now its time for Winter........ Which means body clipping, blankets and stalls to clean. (by the by, i've already clipped Vince and O'malley twice a piece...)

The highs and the lows of 3 day Eventing

First of all, horses are so frustating.

As of about three weeks ago everything was going great. The boys were looking good and ready for Heritage Park. Until that friday night when i tried to ride Shorty.... Poor guy, he just wasn't himself, i knew something was wrong but i just didn't know what. I ended up getting on him, just for him to collaspe under me. I called the vet, he came out and said EPM..... well that was two weeks ago tonight, and poor Shorty was diganosed with EPM after a spinal tap was performed, and is currently undergoing treatment to get well again. So he is out for the rest of the fall season.

However O'malley is still going strong, he had a 4th place finish at Heritage park in the open Prelim. We would have been higher but we had a stupid stop on XC, oh well we learn from all our mistakes. But he is doing great and is getting ready for the AEC's in the Preliminary Horse division, so watch for us!

So its on to the AEC's, with Shorty left at home recovering from his attack of the EPM bug.... protazoa or however you spell it. Then its on to Greenwood, maybe the ICP thing in Missiouri we haven't decided yet, then Holly Hill and on to OCALA for the CCI*! my baby is growing up!
